| History
The Church of Christ
(Disciples) formed a Ladies Aid Society (Missionary) on November
10, 1920. It's first president was Eva Sloan; vice president
Ruth Ware; treasurer Susie Ausherman, and secretary Mrs. Jay
Strickling. 1920 members included Carrie Marsh, Geneva
Wagoner, Mrs. Charles Wylie, and Emma Mae Moore.
There were two
societies until July 11, 1927, when the ladies united as one.
That same year the Ohio Christian Missionary Society Convention
met in Tiffin and approved the National City Church in Washington,
D.C.
In 1954, the silver
communion set used at The First Christian Church in Tiffin was
given by its Christian Women's Fellowship. In 1956 the
Church of Christ (Disciples) became today's First Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ).
Throughout the years
C.W.F. has purchased for the church: floral arrangements,
dishes, a refrigerator, stainless steel cooking utensils, and many
other needed items.
All the women of the
church are invited to C.W.F. meetings, which are held on the
fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
